ASUS VY279HE 27 Eye Care Monitor, 1080P Full HD, 75Hz, IPS, 1ms, Adaptive-Sync/FreeSync, Eye Care Plus, Color Augmentation, HDMI VGA, Frameless, VESA Wall Mountable, Black
The ASUS VY279HE is a 27-inch IPS monitor that checks most of the boxes people are looking for in a new monitor right now. It offers some gaming extras, like 1ms response time and AMD FreeSync support, but otherwise piles on a fairly simple display that’s the best of all three specs: size, resolution, and price.
At its price, the VY279HE is much cheaper than many frameless 27-inch monitors, even smaller ones. For example, the HP 24mh can be had for almost the same price, but it comes with a 24-inch display, while the Asus TUF VG27AQ1A costs twice that. The LG 34WN80C-B may have strong competition with a bigger screen and few specs, but it’s priced too high.

Visually, the Asus VY279HE is styled like a premium monitor, featuring a dark gray finish, ultra-thin bezels, an easy-to-assemble stand with a V-shaped base. For a 27-inch display, the base plate is actually quite small so it doesn’t take up much space on your desk, but obviously, the panel needs some room to move.
You also need viewing space, but not as much as this monitor’s screen would have without the very effective anti-reflective coating. But if you are using something smaller then it looks great with the 27-inch display. And the full HD (1080p) resolution is arguably the ‘sweet spot’ in terms of fine detailing and crisp2 color reproduction for legibility of small text.
Port selection is specific to Budget Monitor. The monitor gets HDMI, VGA, and headphone jacks on the back, facing down. There are also standard VESA ports, in case you need to attach the monitor to a stand or wall. It doesn’t include a USB port or DisplayPort, but at this price, those are some features that are easy to overlook.
Like other Asus business monitors, the VY279HE’s display is an IPS panel with LED backlighting. It has a display area of 597.888 x 336.312 mm, which gives a pixel pitch of 0.311 mm with an FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has 250cd/m2 peak brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio and 16.7m colors, resulting in smooth grading and tonal gradation. In-plane switching enables faster response times and a wider viewing angle of 178 degrees.
The ASUS VY279HE is easy to use – it comes ready-assembled. The on-screen display is big, sharp, and well-organized with all the appropriate options. Another bit of technology developed by Asus is at work here and it is called ‘color enhancement technology, it works fine by adjusting both the hue and brightness of the sub-areas of the monitor across the panel to reduce the color change. does.
For gamers, the Asus VY279HE comes with AMD’s FreeSync adaptive syncing technology. As such, if you’re using, maybe, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 powered machine, then the Asus VY279HE will have no problem recognizing and enabling equivalent G-Sync functionality.
Overall, the 1080p resolution delivers a lot of detail on the 27-inch panel, the build quality is great and if the bezel-less screen is your poison, you get a frameless design, which offers a decent viewing experience.
Our Rating | Excellent
The ASUS VY279HE is a 27-inch business monitor that won’t break the bank, but it has a slick design and a few techniques for gamers, including AMD FreeSync technology and a 1ms response time.
- Fantastic, frameless design
- Easy to use and navigate
- Price won’t break the bank
- AMD FreeSync support
- Basic ports, without USB
- No height adjustment
There are still some good arguments for using HD/QHD res monitors for business, college, and photo editing, but FHD combined with expanded color space reproduction represents a huge step forward in terms of more accurate rendering with better tolerances.
Asus builds on this with the 27-inch Asus Y279HE with better uniformity of both color, brightness, and design – and even over a larger display area – as well as the very effective AMD FreeSync. It delivers excellent repeatability and reliability through color enhancement, and the small response rate of 1ms makes it a perfect choice for enthusiastic gamers.
A good-looking monitor is a key component to making sure your business gets the class it deserves, and our review unit, the Asus VY279HE monitor, has all the key elements for it, and can easily be a standout among its more expensive competitors. is match.
