Speculations have been rife for the past few months that Sony is planning to launch a flagship smartphone called the Sony Xperia 1 VI under the Xperia series known for its cameras. Although the phone was first reported last year, no more information has surfaced since then. But increasing the buzz now several features of Sony Xperia 1 VI have been leaked online.

One from the X (ex-Twitter) handle named Insider Sony Image shared, which appears to be of a Sony Xperia 1 VI. It revealed that the phone will have a triple rear camera setup. All three cameras will have 48-megapixel sensors, which will use the same Exmor T technology found in the primary lens of the predecessor Xperia 1V. This technology promises improvements in camera light reception and less noise. It is believed that all three sensors of the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI will offer this feature.

Besides, the main lens will come with f/1.4 aperture, 2x optical zoom and dual-PD auto focus support for faster and more precise focusing. It is also said to offer 1,080-pixel video recording with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Additionally, the ultra-wide camera will have a 14-18mm focal length, perfect for capturing wide scenes, and will come with on-chip autofocus. Besides, the telephoto lens will offer 6x zoom and capture detailed photos with the 48-megapixel sensor. However, 6x zoom can probably be achieved through sensor cropping, as the native optical zoom will only reach 3x.
Although, other specifications of the Sony Xperia 1 VI are still unknown, sources last September revealed that Sony might take the wraps off the phone at the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) technology conference in Barcelona on February 28. However, an image from Sony’s MWC event on February 26 has also surfaced, so the handset could be launched on that day as well.
